Coworker with farming experience

Co-Worker / Vocational

Minimum Age 0

Duration Minimum 6 months

We are looking for motivated, energetic and responsible volunteers interested in joining our life sharing community to live and work alongside adults with special needs. You will join a vibrant team of about 20-25 young adults from many different countries. The role involves living in a household in the community together with adults with special needs, supporting them in their day to day needs and work life. This role would best suit empathetic, caring and responsible people with a strong sense of commitment. Good English is essential and preference is given to those who can commit for the full year.
?We are specifically looking for volunteers with experience or a strong interest in working on our farm to assist the farm manager which will potentially involve working unsociable hours compared with the other workshops.
A keen interest in adults with special needs is required. An interest in social care, art, music, farming/gardening, homemaking or a specific craft is an advantage. Full training and induction into the role will be provided as well as mandatory external training. We look forward to hearing from you.
On the farm, we have milking cows, sucklers, followers, pigs, sheep, and chicken. We also grow potatoes and fodder crops. The garden produces fruit and vegetables for the community and also looks after the orchard.
To apply: Please contact Claire McCreesh on for an application form or if you have any questions. Or on +353 (0)871826510

Community Volunteer

Minimum Age 18

Duration Minimum 3 months

Depending on your skills and interests, volunteers will generally be asked to assist our residents with their daily workshops (either garden, farm, weavery, pottery, cooking or cleaning) all of which are on site. If you have a special skill that you want to come and share then that is welcome too.

Or if what you can offer is to sit and have a cup of tea with one of our residents once a week then that is great too. Friendship for our residents is what benefits them most so if you have an hour to go for a walk on a summer evening, do small crafts or a morning when you could help at the workshops or feed the chickens then we want to hear from you!

To start your volunteeting journey today: contact Claire on 0871826510

The interested volunteer needs to be cheerful, patient and enjoy working in a team environment and also have an interest in working with adults with intellectual disabilities. A good level of English is also required.
