Camphill Dunshane requires your help to fundraise much needed funds for our roads and paths!
Camphill Dunshane is an intentional community in the heart of Co. Kildare which provides residential and day services to adults with intellectual disabilities. The community has been running for over 30 years and has seen tremendous change in that time. Dunshane is a registered centre through HIQA and receive regular inspections to ensure we maintain our high standards of care. Dunshane provides a beautiful atmosphere for adults with intellectual disabilities to thrive in a therapeutic environment.
Over the past number of years, wear and tear has started to creep into our beautiful community. As part of our effort to upkeep the community we are fundraising to help repair our roadway surfaces and lighting. At present, years of hard work has taken its toll on our roads and pathways leaving them laden with potholes and crumbling under the daily traffic. This infrastructure is vital to the daily running of the community as the adults we support use the roadways and paths multiple times daily to get around the community. The community has endeavoured to maintain the surface as well as possible through quick fixes, however, the time has come which we can no longer continue to do this and require a resurfacing in order to allow us continue our day to day work for years to come.
As we come into the dark, cold, winter months the community also requires substantial work on our external lighting system to allow our adults to safely move around the community after dark. The combination of densely light areas and potholes can make for an uncomfortable environment in the evenings if not supported by staff.
After successfully fundraising for a state-of-the-art sensory room, the community now turns its attention to improving our grounds to make for a more comfortable experience.
