The basketry workshop began about three years ago at the request of the long term Co-workers. It is run by Eiji, our long-term co-worker from Japan. He has had several trainings in basketry and ran the basket workshop in Dunshane before coming to Mountshannon. In the workshop, residents and co-workers alike receive training and help in weaving baskets for use in our houses, though many have made their way into the homes of people in the village of Mountshannon and some have found a home as far away as Ennis. These baskets carry fruit, vegetables, groceries, clothes and anything else that needs carrying on a daily basis. They are both an aesthetic and practical addition to daily life in Camphill, and both co-workers and residents enjoy making them.
