About Mountshannon Community
Camphill Community Mountshannon was established in 2005 as the Clare Lifesharing Initiative (Claí) and is based in the lakeside village of Mountshannon, Co. Clare, about 40 minutes from Limerick and Ennis. There are three houses and a community garden in the village, as well as a number of craft workshops, including a weavery and a basket-making workshop. There is a strong locally based support group and growing relationships with other Camphill communities, with Camphill Mountshannon joining the Association of Camphill Communities in February 2009.
In Mountshannon we try to create a home that encourages individuals of all abilities to grow, develop their gifts and discover their hidden talents. Our Community is still relatively young and we need to continue to be flexible to meet an ever changing situation as we build our capacity to respond to the needs that come towards us. Over time we will seek to integrate fully into the life of the village using the very fine facilities that already exist through the good work of the community in East Clare over the years www.mountshannon.com.
