a small life sharing community

About Greenacres Community

Camphill Community Greenacres is a small Community in a suburb in South Dublin and close to Dundrum and Stillorgan villages. We are living in three houses within walking distance of each other, and our neighborhood is a beautiful, peaceful place, yet has easy access to the cultural life and stimulus of Dublin city centre.

Greenacres aims to offer people with a learning disability access to appropriate housing and related support services promoting equality of opportunity, choice and independence for each individual. It is our aim to facilitate a space for each individual which they can call home, and where each feels safe and can grow and develop their unique potential and hidden talents.

There are three key elements to the support service which is being offered in Greenacres.

Residential Service

One of the houses in Greenacres is a residential house where people with a disability live together with volunteer co-workers and where each person contributes to the daily running of the household according to their ability. The support available will be according to each person's needs and can range from support with daily living skills, personal support as well as support to achieve individual goals. Liivng in Dublin offers plenty of opportunities to live life to the full, and we support each person to have a rich social and cultural life according to the individual's preference.

Independent Living Support

Greenacres promotes the rights of a person with a disability to live their lives as they choose, and to maximize their independence in a supported Independent Living environment. At present two of our houses are available for people who wish to live independently and to enter into a tenancy arrangement with Camphill Communities of Ireland. In addition to that the individual can have access to support from Greenacres Independent Living Support Service as well as from the wider local community.

Day Centre

Greenacres promotes life long learning. The craft activities in our pottery and textile studio support the abilites of each individual, and promote the development of self reliance through self directed learning, and creativity. The day centre also offers arts and music classes, gardening and life skills such as cooking. The day centre supports both training as well as participation in real and meaningful activities in an equal, dignifying and respectful way.
