The Camphill Jerpoint Community is always looking for motivated volunteers. Without its volunteers the community could never work the way it is. They are the essence of Camphill.

As a volunteer you are working together with people with special needs in the garden, the workshops or in the house. Most volunteers build up great personal relationships with the people they are working with. In the last few years we have developed a Community model which blends employment with Volunteering. You will be working alongside staff who are employed and don't live in. As Volunteers you will share life with the residents. You will live, eat and  possibly share some of your freetime together with the residents. This is quite a commitment but most volunteers are especially enjoying the social possibilities outside of work.

Short Term Co-Worker

Co-Worker / Vocational

Minimum Age 18

Duration Minimum 1 year

We presently have vacancies for enthusiastic Co-workers who are willing to join our vibrant team and life-share in one of our households. We would like a one-year commitment starting from August/September each year. As a member of our community, you will live in one of our houses and play a full and active part in the life of our community. As a volunteer, your main task will be to support and befriend adults with a disability and help them access a wide range of leisure and work activities. Some residents will need support with their day-to-day needs to enable them to lead an active and integrated life. The setting at Jerpoint is rural with close proximity to the local town of Thomastown.  There is a close link with the local community and activities are availed of around Thomastown and Kilkenny. You will receive a full induction and the necessary training to fulfill your responsibilities in a competent manner. This is a wonderful opportunity to experience something different for empathetic, caring and motivated individuals, with an interest in social care. This experience may be a little challenging at times but it is also a lot of fun and very rewarding. Please feel free to get in touch to explore more about the role of a co-worker and the ethos of our community. We are very happy to answer any questions you may have. We look forward to hearing from you.
